The E-Verify federal electronic system tells employers whether their workersw identification data matches with government Former presidentGeorge W. Bush signed an executivwe order in 2008 requiring federal contractors touse U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napoltano said Wednesdayg the Obama administration is continuingthat requirement. The Obamwa administration had looked at theBush E-Verify contractor rule and optedf to fully implement it. “E-Verify is a smart, simplwe and effective tool that reflects our continued commitment to workin g with employers to maintai alegal workforce,” Napolitano said in a statement.
“Requiring thosee who seek federal contracts to use this system will create a more reliable and legal work Businesses have in the pastfaulted E-Verifhy for not being reliable. The ditched ‘No Match’ rule related to Social Security numbers required employeres to figure out the mismatchb problems in a short time frame or firethe workers. Full implementatiohn of the No-Match never came into place and was blockex by lawsuits claiming Social Security number databases are not reliable and contain mismatchesand duplicates.
